$260+$40 Pot Limit Omaha Re-entry
The $260+$40 Pot Limit Hold’em tournament was the third event on the 2017 Borgata Spring Poker Open schedule but the first to award its trophy. The two-day tournament drew 101 entries and Alan Horowitz outlasted them all to take the title, the trophy, and the $7,516 top prize.
They began the four-card game on Friday afternoon and quickly played down near the money bubble after registration closed. The $26,260 prize pool was set to be paid out to the last 18 players and they pumped the brakes with 19 remaining. The bubble lasted nearly 90 minutes before Robert Ziade put them in the money after eliminating a short stack in a four-way hand.
Those 18 players continued to work their way towards the final table and action was paused for Day 1 with ten players remaining. Former WSOP runner-up Darius Studdard returned for Day 2 with the chip lead while other players continued to drop out until four players remained.
Horowitz began amassing a huge stack during the long four-handed play with the first big boost coming against Khoa Luong. He was sent out in fourth place and Greg Donatelli followed soon after to set the heads up battle. With a 9-to-1 chip lead, Studdard was unable to battle back and Horowitz won the title when his rivered boat bested Studdard’s aces up.
This was the first tournament win for Horowitz and the Bay Shore, NY resident was very excited to earn the trophy. Congrats to Alan and everyone who cashed in the first weekend of the series.
