Event 7 the $300 Deeper Stack NLH drew 192 entries creating a prize pool of over $48,000. There was plenty of action throughout and Frank Ghanem held the chip lead through much of the night. Zimmerman entered the final table as the short stack with just 140,000 but was able to battle back and came into heads up play with just a slight chip deficit.
The heads up match was a brief one with Zimmerman catching a bluff from Ghanem and eliminating him just one hand later. Zimmerman has quite the story for the blog to go along with his victory. He made the trip up north from South Carolina with a friend of his. That friend was Josh Smith who took down last nights Saturday Series Deepstack NLH earning over $48,000.
The two players had to rush out as play wrapped up around 4 A.M. and they had to catch a flight back home at 6 A.M. They will definitely have plenty to talk about and some extra spending cash and hardware to bring back. The win here tonight is Zimmerman’s first major tournament win and he earns $14,285 along with the Borgata Spring Poker Open Trophy.
