$300+$40 Seniors (50+) Deep Stack NLH Re-Entry
The Seniors Event is always a highlight on any schedule and the 2017 Borgata Spring Poker Open tournament was no different. The event was open to anyone 50 years old and up and it drew 193 entries entries starting this morning. Nearly 16 hours after they kicked it off, Paul Tong was posing with the Seniors Event trophy after a four-way adjusted payout deal with him as the chip leader.
Those 193 entries created a prize pool of almost $60,000 and the last 18 players were set to take home some money. The tournament played down to the last four tables when the 32 remaining players took a 60-minute dinner break. After their return, they quickly made their way to the money bubble and they were in the money when former Senior Event champ Dave Hollenberg knocked out the bubble “boy”.
The last two tables relocated to the Signature Room and included Borgata regulars Tony Campagna, Bill Keating, and “Montana Joe”. They were down to the final table ten when Sazan Lusha was eliminated in tenth place and they lost four players in quick succession. Hollenberg battled with a short stack at the final table but had to settle for a sixth place finish. “Montana Joe” was in good shape until he took a bad beat at the hands of Ken Roberts.
The last four players were holding relatively equal stacks and agreed to an adjusted payout deal to divide up the remaining prize pool down the middle. Paul Tong was the chip leader and very happy to take home his first career Borgata trophy. It was his goal at the start of the tournament and he earned exactly what he wanted.
Congrats to Paul Tong and everyone else for playing in this great tournament.
