The final table action will begin at 2pm in the Signature Room, so let’s take a look at the six players who earned their seat at the table with a lot of hard work and a bit of good luck.
Here’s a reminder what they’re playing for, in addition to the 2019 Borgata Spring Poker Open trophy:
Place | Payout |
1 | $304,929 |
2 | $171,448 |
3 | $110,216 |
4 | $87,561 |
5 | $68,579 |
6 | $56,333 |
- Jacob Toole
- Shannon Shorr
- Michael Cohen
- David Jackson
- Andrew Dudley
- Vladimir Alexandrov
Seat 1: Jake Toole – 4,075,000
Jake Toole starts the day as chip leader and is appropriately in the 1 seat. The 30-year-old is a east coaster, born in Massachusetts and now living in Hoboken, NJ. He’s been playing poker professionally for 10 years and during that time has accumulated more than $1.1 million in tournament earnings.
He’s got cashes from as far away as Prague, Germany and Aruba, but his biggest was in Las Vegas at the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event. His 34th place finish was good for $211,821 and that remains his best live cash. Despite all that money, he holds no major title, so you know he’s got his sights set on this one and will do his best to take home the trophy.
He began day 2 with an above average stack and started Day 3 second in chips only to Brandon Mueller, who finished 7th last night. His stack represents 68 big blinds at the start of play.
Seat 2: Shannon Shorr – 3,100,000
Shannon Shorr starts Day 4 in the 2 seat and 3rd in chips. With more than 13 years playing professionally, he’s arguably the most experienced player at this final table. With nearly $7.3 million in lifetime tournament earnings, it makes sense that this 33-year-old Alabaman now lives in Las Vegas.
He’s also got cashes from all over the world and 5 titles, including an EPT and PCA win, but none of the WSOP or WPT variety. His best live cash of $960,690 came in 2006 for 1st place at the Bellagio Cup $10,000 NLH event and he has 19 other six-figure scores. If he finishes 3rd or higher today, he’ll add another six figures to his impressive collection of cashes.
Unlike many professional poker players, Shannon has many interests outside of poker. He used to be a baseball umpire and likes to travel, which fits right in with his chosen profession. He’s also in to reading, fitness, documentaries, and even juggling!
Shannon was a Day 2 entry, starting with 30,000 chips (30 big blinds) and entered Day 3 in the middle of the field with 525,000 (52 big blinds). He was down to only 4 big blinds at one point and was dead last in the counts at the dinner break with only 10 big blinds. He kept coming back to finish the day with 52 big blinds and with that kind of resolve, he’s a threat to take it all today.
Seat 3: Michael Cohen – 780,000
Michael Cohen is 31 and from nearby Manalapan, NJ. With about eight years of results and more than $569,000 in earnings on his poker resume, he’s no slouch at the table. Before taking up poker he was an Accountant, so knows how to handle money.
He has three titles, two right here at Borgata, but his best live cash of $94,482 was for a 3rd place finish in the May 2918 WSOP Circuit Championship in New Orleans. To top that he’ll have to finish third or higher today.
Day 2 saw him return with a below average stack, but then on Day 3 he was right around the average. His stack took some big swings during yesterday’s action and at one point he was the chip leader, but he’s dead last starting today with only 13 big blinds. He’s got his work cut out for him if he’s going to move up the pay scale.
Seat 4: David Jackson – 3,945,000
David Jackson has been grinding professionally for 6-7 years, but has been cashing in tournaments for close to 11. His total live earnings are in excess of $1.5 million and that includes 10 titles. One of those is from Borgata and one is a WSOP Circuit win. His best live cash of $183,498 came at the 20013 WSOP when he finished 4th in a $1,500 NLH event for $183,498. That’s his only six-figure cash, but he could change that today.
This 32-year-old was born in New Jersey, but now lives in Florida. Despite the distance, he’s still a regular here at Borgata.
He was 13th of 194 returning players on Day 2 and coincidentally was 13th of 34 returning players on Day 3. He battled his way into the chip lead late in the day and comes to this final table 2nd in chips with 66 big blinds.
Seat 5: Andrew Dudley – 835,000
Andrew Dudley is a businessman, originally from New York, but now residing in North Carolina. He has only $17,000 in reported tournament earnings and by making it this far, he’s already locked up more than three times that.
The 48-year-old is the eldest at this final table and he returned for Day 2 with an above-average stack. At the start of Day 3 he was ranked 3rd of 34 remaining players, but as play progressed, he slipped further and further down the counts. A timely pair of Aces flopped a set and he trapped Vladimir Alexandrov nicely for a much-needed double-up shortly before their dinner break.
At the start of play today, he’s next-to-last in chips and has 14 big blinds.
Seat 6: Vladimir Alexandrov – 2,450,000
Vladimir Alexandrov is a professional poker player and the 38-year-old says he’s been playing professionally since 2007. In that time, he’s accumulated nearly a quarter-million in earnings. Most of that came from his 3rd place finish in January’s Winter Poker Open Kick-Off ($216,000 adjusted payout).
Born in Siberia (Russia) and now living in New Jersey, Vladimir is a regular here at Borgata. He entered Day 2 with a below average stack and on Day 3 started in the middle of the field, a little above average. During play yesterday he had to battle his way back from the low end of the counts a couple of times.
He starts the day with 41 big blinds, very close to the average stack. To improve on that big score in January he’s going to have to win it all.
Here’s how the final six stack up as they enter the action today.
