We’ve been missing Mike Muniz and his colorful and humorous poker attire and just learned why he’s not been around. His wife Victoria passed away recently.
Peter Miranda and the guys from Big Boys Poker send their thoughts and prayers to their grieving friend and wanted him to know that he is loved and missed.
We’re missing his smiling face as well and hope that we’ll see him again at Borgata some time in the future.

On the turn with a board of Norman Rodriguez (sb) checked it over to Sundiata DeVore, who bet 2,500. Norman called to see the
complete the board.
Again he checked and Sundiata bet 6,200. Norman gave it some thought, then called. Sundiata tabled for quadzilla, the monster hand, and the stone-cold nuts. Norman mucked his hand.
After that pot, Sundiata was up to ~52,000 and Norman was holding about 35,000, so he’s back to starting-stack size.

The Big Blind Ante is in play in the Deepest Stack DoubleHeader!
This event was not on last Spring’s schedule, so technically there is no defending champion. This event took the place of the Monster Stack, which had a similar DoubleHeader format, and also a higher price tag.
The Monster Stack had the same guarantee and saw 537 entrants over two starting flights. Day 2 played until after 1 am to reach the final six players, who came to an adjusted payout agreement.
James Brady was the chip leader and claimed 1st place, $23,271, and his first Borgata Open trophy!

Level 1: Blinds 100/100
Today’s only trophy event is the Deepest Stack DoubleHeader, which has two starting flights. The first of two flights of the Deep Stack DoubleHeader is underway here in the Signature Room. The second and final flight begins at 4pm.
Players get 40,000 chips to start and all levels are 30 minutes long.
Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of level 11 (about 4:45pm). This is also a Best Stack Forward event, so players who bag chips in Flight A can try again in Flight B without automatically forfeiting their bagged chips. Play will continue to the end of level 16, about 8pm, then remaining players will bag up for the night. Players who bust out can try again in this flight if registration is still open, or try again in Fight B, which starts at 4pm.
The survivors of both starting fights will return to the Poker Room at 12 noon Tuesday for Day 2 and play until a winner is determined.
There is a $150,000 Guarantee on total buy-ins, so we should see a big turnout for this Double Header.
Spring begins today and you know what that means! The 2019 Borgata Spring Poker Open kicks off in a couple of weeks — now is the time to make your plans to attend. With more than $3.5 million in guarantees and 19 trophy events spread across 18 action-packed days, this series will see some huge fields. Room rates are available starting from $95 — Call 609.317.1000 now to reserve your room!
As always, the series begins with the $1 million guaranteed $540+$60 NLH Deep Stack Kickoff. It begins Tuesday April 2nd at 11am with the first of six starting flights. With unlimited re-entries, this best stack forward event will surely see more than enough entrants to crush the guarantee. Last year, Rafael Reis emerged victorious from the field of 2,370 entrants to take home $216,010 for 1st place, along with his first Borgata Poker title.
All your favorite tournaments will be returning including the Seniors ($25k GTD), Ladies, SixMax ($100k GTD), Almighty Stack ($500k GTD), two Saturday Series $100,000 GTD events, and the $150,000 GTD Black Chip Bounty. For players looking to take a break from No Limit Hold’em, there are three tournaments: Pot Limit Omaha ($20k GTD), Omaha High/Low, and HOSE ($20k GTD). Some changes this year include a $500+$60 Super Survivor with $75,000 Guarantee and another Survivor with a $100 Black Chip Bounty added. Click here for the complete schedule of main events.
Of course the highlight of the series is the $2,500 + $200 Borgata Spring Poker Open NLH Championship, which carries a $1 million guarantee on total buy-ins. One major change is that the two starting days will be Monday & Tuesday (April 15 & 16) instead of Sunday & Monday as in the past. The finale will be Live Streamed on Friday, April 19th.
Last year, Almedin ‘Ali’ Imsirovic took home the Championship trophy and $246,066* after battling his way through a field of 519 entrants. Heads-up with Farid Jattin, Ali battled for a while before opting for an adjusted payout agreement with a nearly even split of remaining prize money.
